Western Cheer is Daytona Bound

ALTUS, OK – The Western Oklahoma State College (WOSC) cheer team is in full preparation mode as they set their sights on the 2025 NCA College Nationals, held April 9-13 in Daytona Beach, Florida. With a rigorous training schedule and a renewed focus on competition, the team is ready to showcase their skills on the national stage for the second consecutive year.

Throughout the spring semester, the WOSC cheerleaders have been balancing their demanding practice schedule with their responsibilities as game-day cheerleaders. Training four days a week while also cheering at weekly basketball games has kept the team sharp, but their workload is about to increase. As they enter spring break, the squad will take on an even more intense regimen—two-a-day practices designed to fine-tune their performance and ensure they are competition-ready.

The team will make its season debut on March 29 in Garland, TX, at Bravo Spirit Events, where they will perform their full routine for the first time. This event will serve as a crucial opportunity to assess their performance in a live setting and make any necessary adjustments before heading to nationals. Then, on April 5 at 4:30 PM, WOSC Cheer will host a show-off event at the college, inviting family, friends, and supporters to see their routine before they head to Daytona Beach.

This year's NCA College Nationals appearance marks a significant milestone for the team. After placing 5th out of 10 teams in the Spirit Rally Division last year, WOSC Cheer is stepping up to a new division in 2025. While this move presents new challenges, the team remains confident and determined to make a strong impression on the national stage.

"Our team has been working incredibly hard to perfect our routine, and we are excited to compete in a new division this year," said Head Coach Nichole Turner. "We've put in the hours, the effort, and the heart—now it's about going out there and leaving it all on the mat."

With their commitment and perseverance, WOSC Cheer is poised to make a statement in Daytona Beach. As the countdown to nationals continues, the team will rely on their rigorous training, unwavering team spirit, and the support of their community to push them to new heights.
