Pioneers Finish with Historic Season

The Western Pioneer men's basketball team finished with a historic season for the men's program. The Pioneers reached the Region 2 finals for the first time since 1980. The team attained the 20-win mark, led the NJCAA in three-pointers per game (13.5), was second in total points per game (98.7), and was in the top 5 in three other offensive categories. Throughout the season Chang Hoth was named the NJCAA DI Player of the week and the DI Region 2 player of the week twice. Jack Hoth was also named DI Region 2 player of the week once during the season.

As the season wrapped, many Pioneers continued to receive honors. Freshman, Chang Hoth, was named Region 2 Freshman of the Year and made the All-Region First/Second Team! Chang and Jack Hoth earned Region 2 All-Freshman team honors. Sophomores Joshua Sasser, Richard Lowe, and freshman Jack Hoth earned NJCAA Region II Third Team All-Conference honors. Western's players received Regional and national recognition, and the team earned a reputation as a competitive force in Region 2. "I greatly appreciate the hard work and effort our student-athletes put forth this year. They represented Western well, and their achievement is a direct reflection of their commitment," said Coach De La Barrera.
