
The 2024-25 rodeo season is off to an exciting start for the Western Oklahoma State College Rodeo team. At the season's first rodeo at Kansas State University, team roper Cale Morris and his partner from NWOSU won the long round with a 6.8 followed by Brandt O'Connor and Nicholas Lovins in third with a 7.3 and Jordan Lovins and his partner from SEOSU in fifth with a 7.8. In breakaway roping, Y'leigh Yarbrough showcased impressive speed, splitting first with a 2.3. To finish the competition, Y'leigh stopped the clock at 2.5 to win the short round and the average! Cale Morris won the average heeling title with the team's performance of 7.8
The team continued its success at Colby Community College, where team ropers Rowdy Jones and Dace Morris split 4th and 5th with Brandt O'Connor and Nicholas Lovins after runs of 7.6 during day one. Both teams finished the rodeo splitting 7th and 8th in the average. After an 11.6 run in the long round, Jate Saults won the short-round in tie-down roping with a 9.0 which earned the second spot in the average, while Ralph Saults earned a spot in the top 12 with his 11.8 run on day one.
