Recruits and current team members were privileged to engage in a unique opportunity this past week- a training session with professional bull rider Shane Proctor. Proctor, Western's rough stock assistant rodeo coach, a former PRCA World Champion, and a seasoned rodeo veteran, brought his expertise and insights to the Western practice arena on Wednesday. He spent the day sharing his experiences and leading specialized training sessions for some of our recruits.
Proctor's Presence provides invaluable lessons not only in the physical aspects of the sport but also in the mental and emotional challenges that come with pursuing excellence.
Head Coach Jess Tierney expressed the profound impact of Proctor's Presence, saying, "It was truly inspiring to have Shane with us. His unparalleled work ethic and perseverance, combined with his ability to connect with our athletes on a personal level, was a special experience. He's a living example of what it takes to succeed, and his influence will undoubtedly resonate with our team for a long time."
Proctor's one-on-one work with team members, offering individualized advice on conditioning, performance under pressure, and staying mentally tough, was invaluable. His Presence allowed the team to bond over shared goals and ambitions and reinforced the culture of hard work and dedication the program builds on. His hands-on approach and approachable demeanor made for a memorable and impactful experience for all involved, inspiring a renewed commitment to the team's culture.
